We focus on understanding the life history of ancient individuals by studying the living conditions of past societies and the interactions between fauna and humans

Through the analysis of ancient DNA from human, animal, and microbial communities we study the life history of humans as well as the traces that human societies have left in the ecosystems.

The ongoing project GEMS funded by FWF aims to create new datasets and integrative analyses to describe the biological history of the commoners during population and historical turmoils.
